Mission:
The Booker T. Washington Community Service Centers mission is to empower the lives of our community by offering individuals and families the services and support they need to become self-sufficient. The oldest Black-led, Black-serving organization in San Francisco, BTWCSC has been a beacon of support and light for the Fillmore/Western Addition community for over a century. We reduce economic and racial disparities by serving as a one-stop hub providing affordable housing, education, senior services, family stabilization, workforce development, and community building. BTWCSC is an anchor institution and is one of the few urban spaces where anyone in the community can access comprehensive services, from a hot meal to childcare to academic support to senior services.
Summary:
The Operations Coordinator reports to the Operations and Facilities Director, and works with Facilities and Operations staff and BTWCSC Drivers. The Coordinator will also work with vendors, community partners, property management, security, and building maintenance and janitorial services. This position will assist in the daily operations of the facility and ensure a high level of customer service to the community, guests, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations and Facility Support:
- Assist the Operations and Facilities Director in the daily operations and maintenance of the facility.
- Support the development and implementation of BTW Standard Operating Procedures and policies.
- Manage facility rentals, including scheduling, contracts, and payments.
- Develop monthly and quarterly calendars for organizational activities and programs.
Facility Operations and Management:
- Assist in the daily operations of the facility, including building maintenance, security, equipment inventory, and customer service.
- Ensure resident and guest safety by working with John Stewart Company property management.
- Support BTW building partners and address their facility needs.
- Maintain a master list of vendors, vendor report cards, and agreements.
- Develop and maintain building design templates.
Administrative and Financial Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records of all facility activities and services.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve facility operations.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons and stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Professional Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in operations or facilities management.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Proficient in Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite, and facility management software.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work independently and to manage and supervise others effectively.
- Working knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and codes related to facility maintenance, safety, and accessibility.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Demonstrates professionalism, emotional maturity, good moral character, and integrity.
- Does not indulge in illicit drugs or alcoholic beverages before or during work hours.
- Demonstrates ability to plan, be flexible and adaptable, and work with a team.
- Must have CPR/First Aid certification.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and clear writing skills.
- Ability to work with diversity and challenge, establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, funding source representatives, board members, and other service providers.
- Ability to read, understand and complete various forms, documents, and reports.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage activities that require attention to detail, good execution, and follow-through.
Physical Requirements:
The position may require the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods of time, and work in a variety of environments. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Schedule:
Five days a week, including some evenings and weekends, depending on business needs. Additional hours required for program activities include, but are not limited to, BTW staff and Board events, evening and late-night duty, field trips, and staff meetings; a calendar will be provided.
