Precision Dimensional Inspector -- Aerospace, Defense & Medical Devices
Job Description
Job Description Imagine your day as our Precision Dimensional Inspector
You come in, grab your gauge cart, and step onto a floor where aerospace, defense, and med‑tech components are machined to exacting standards. Early in the shift, you verify set-ups and run in‑process checks at critical operations. Later, you might switch to a complex final inspection—confirming features to drawing callouts, applying GD&T, and recording results in our electronic quality system. When a geometry gets tricky, you move to the CMM to validate true position or profile. If the program calls for it, you’ll conduct a load test on a structural assembly, following step-by-step procedures before making an objective accept/reject decision.
Schedules
- 6:00 am – 2:30 pm, Monday–Friday
- 12:00 pm – 8:30 pm, Monday–Friday
- Training on 1st shift
What you’ll do
- Perform in‑process dimensional checks at defined manufacturing stages per the inspection plan.
- Execute final dimensional, visual, cosmetic, and functional inspections on completed parts.
- Verify parts against engineering drawings and customer specifications using GD&T.
- Use precision tools: calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, go/no‑go gauges, depth gauges, and surface plates.
- Operate a CMM when required to confirm complex geometries and GD&T callouts.
- Conduct load testing on structural assemblies per program‑specific procedures when assigned.
- Accurately capture and store measurements in electronic quality/inspection systems.
- Complete First Article Inspections to AS9102 requirements when needed.
- Identify and document nonconformances through the NCR process; make clear accept/reject calls.
- Confirm manufacturing travelers are complete and all required operations/inspections are recorded.
- Verify calibration status of inspection equipment prior to use and report due/overdue items.
What you bring
- 1+ year of dimensional inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands‑on proficiency with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Working knowledge of GD&T symbols and tolerances.
- Strong attention to detail with objective accept/reject decision‑making.
- Comfort using digital systems for data entry and record keeping.
Bonus points
- CMM operation or programming experience.
- AS9102 First Article Inspection experience.
- Background in aerospace, defense, or medical‑device inspection.
- Experience in AS9100 or ISO 9001 certified environments.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
