Position Overview
Anderson's Tree Care is seeking a dependable, hardworking Tree Groundsperson to join our growing team in San Jose, CA. This position plays a critical role in supporting tree crews by assisting with tree removals, pruning operations, cleanup, equipment handling, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, thrives in a physically demanding environment, and is committed to safety and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist climbers and crew leaders with tree pruning, removals, and general tree care operations.
- Drag, chip, and remove brush, limbs, logs, and debris from job sites.
- Operate and maintain chainsaws, chippers, blowers, pole saws, and other tree care equipment.
- Set up and maintain safe work zones, traffic control devices, and job site safety equipment.
- Load and unload trucks with tools, equipment, and materials.
- Assist with rigging operations and lowering branches safely to the ground.
- Perform daily inspections and basic maintenance of equipment and vehicles.
- Follow ANSI safety standards and company safety procedures.
- Communicate effectively with crew members and supervisors to ensure work is completed efficiently.
- Provide professional and courteous service to customers when on-site.
Qualifications
- Previous tree care, landscaping, forestry, construction, or outdoor labor experience preferred.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical work in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude.
- Willingness to learn tree care techniques and industry best practices.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- CDL is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and power tools.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of heavy materials.
- Standing, walking, bending, climbing, and kneeling throughout the workday.
- Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and varying terrain.
- Comfortable working near active tree operations and heavy machinery.
