Respiratory Care Practitioner II (RCP II)

Position Overview\n

The Respiratory Care Practitioner II (RCP II) is a skilled professional capable of performing independent respiratory care diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, evaluating clinical care, and establishing therapeutic objectives based on patient needs. The RCP II is responsible for providing various respiratory therapy modalities in accordance with established protocols and physician orders, demonstrating proficiency in respiratory equipment, and participating in continuing education activities.

Key Responsibilities\n

  • Deliver comprehensive respiratory care services across all patient age groups, including geriatric, adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
  • \n

  • Manage ventilator settings, nebulized medication therapy, oxygen therapy, specialty gas administration, chest physiotherapy, aerosol therapy, and mist tent therapy.
  • \n

  • Engage in quality assurance and improvement practices and conduct charge capture reviews.
  • \n

  • Perform diagnostic procedures, such as 12-lead ECGs, pulmonary function testing, and pulse oximetry; support physicians during cardiac stress testing.
  • \n

  • Carry out arterial and capillary punctures; monitor oxygenation, acid-base balance, and ventilation efficiency during cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • \n

  • Collaborate closely with the healthcare team and participate in Rapid Response initiatives.
  • \n

  • Document treatment plans and patient responses in respiratory care records and patient charts; assess patients' needs and adjust treatment based on their responses.
  • \n

Qualifications\n

    \n
  • College diploma required.
  • \n

  • Three years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist required.
  • \n

  • Current state respiratory care practitioner license required.
  • \n

  • Certification in BLS, ACLS, and PALS from the American Heart Association required.
  • \n

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification required.
  • \n

Work Environment\n

This is a full-time position requiring varied 12-hour shifts. Participation in on-call duties may be necessary. The role requires strong attention to detail, compassion, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
