Job DescriptionAbout the Role
Join an early-stage AI-powered AEC software company as a founding engineer for its MEP product area. You will combine hands-on MEP design expertise with software engineering to shape workflows and help advance how buildings are designed.
What You'll Do
- Build HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and piping content libraries on a code-first CAD platform, defining criteria for AI-generated work.
- Shape the MEP product roadmap by identifying workflow needs, product opportunities, and gaps in the current approach.
- Review AI-generated MEP designs for engineering standards and real-world requirements.
- Work with MEP design firms to understand workflows, develop initial content libraries, and support customer onboarding.
- Write Python and TypeScript/React software to build platform features and content packs, using AI coding tools to accelerate development.
What We're Looking For
- 2 to 10 years of professional MEP design experience at an engineering firm in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing systems.
- Software engineering experience beyond basic scripting, with professional experience in Python, TypeScript, full-stack development, or related work.
- A BS or MS in mechanical engineering, computer science, physics, or computational design, ideally from a highly regarded program.
- Hands-on HVAC knowledge, such as ductwork layouts, load calculations, and equipment selection, and familiarity with CAD/BIM tools such as Revit or AutoCAD.
- Initiative in developing product ideas, experience with occasional customer-facing work, and an interest in rethinking MEP workflows with AI.
- Experience with internal automation, AI, or computational design in an MEP or AEC setting is helpful.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $150,000 to $200,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available.
Location
On-site in San Francisco, California. Relocation assistance is available.
