Warehouse Lumper Job Summary: As a warehouse lumper, you will be responsible for loading and unloading trucks, containers, and other transportation vehicles within a warehouse environment. Your primary duties will involve manually handling and sorting freight, ensuring accuracy in counting and inspecting incoming and outgoing shipments, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Warehouse Lumper Key Responsibilities:
- Loading and Unloading: Efficiently load and unload shipments from trucks and containers using appropriate handling equipment and techniques.
- Sorting and Staging: Sort and stage freight for storage or shipment according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Quality Inspection: Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments to verify accuracy and condition, reporting any discrepancies to management.
- Documentation: Complete required paperwork such as bills of lading, packing slips, and other documentation as necessary.
- Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records by counting and recording inventory levels during receiving and shipping processes.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Equipment Operation: Operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move materials as needed.
Warehouse Lumper Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a warehouse environment preferred, but not required.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects repeatedly.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Team player with good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Warehouse Lumper Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds or more).
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions if required.
Warehouse Lumper Work Environment:
- Fast-paced warehouse environment with exposure to noise and varying temperatures.
- May require working evenings, weekends, and overtime as needed.
