Founded in 1984, FERCo's goal is to provide research, pilot-scale development, and full-scale evaluation to industry and government in the area of applied energy and environmental systems. The staff has experience in the combustion, energy, and environmental fields.

Role Description This is a full-time (40 hours a week), non-exempt, on-site Technician role based in Laguna Hills, CA. The Technician responsibilities will include: support daily laboratory and field operations, including inspecting, analyzing, and troubleshooting systems and equipment. Reading repair manuals and liaising with other professionals as well as running tests and interpreting results to make effective recommendations. Repairing or replacing faulty equipment and sourcing replacement parts. Fabricating any components required (i.e., drilling, cutting, welding), as well as maintaining the fabrication shop area and collaborating with engineers on current and future projects. Some travel will be involved (10-20%) at times.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent required
\n
· 0 - 10 years’ experience
\n
· A valid driver's license and a clean driving record
\n
· Ability to multitask and liaise with professionals in different fields
\n
· Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to explain problems simply and clearly
\n
· Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
\n
· Ability to understand wiring diagrams to build and repair mechanical equipment and electrical analyzers
\n
· Welding experience required
\n
· Must be able to pass random drug testing
\n
· Must be able to lift 40 lbs without help
\n
· Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel)
\n
· Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or process systems commonly used in research, testing, or industrial environments.
\n
· Ability to follow detailed procedures, interpret technical instructions, and accurately record data and observations.
\n
· Commitment to safety practices, including use of personal protective equipment and adherence to environmental and regulatory guidelines.
\n
· Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers, scientists, and other technical staff.
\n
· Organizational skills to manage tools, materials, and documentation in a structured and efficient manner.
