Primary Responsibilities
Classroom Support
Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom activities and routines.
Help prepare and organize classroom materials, learning activities, and supplies.
Assist with transitions, arrival, dismissal, meals, nap/rest time, and other daily routines.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom.
Follow the Lead Teacher's direction and support the classroom's daily schedule and curriculum.
Child Care & Supervision
Provide attentive and appropriate supervision of children at all times.
Ensure the safety, health, and well-being of each child.
Assist children with personal needs such as handwashing, toileting, eating, dressing, and other age-appropriate tasks.
Comfort and encourage children when they are upset or having difficulty adjusting.
Help children develop positive social skills, independence, and appropriate classroom behavior.
Recognize and respond appropriately to children's individual needs.
Learning & Development
Participate in classroom activities, including art, music, stories, outdoor play, and other learning experiences.
Encourage children's participation and engagement in activities.
Support children's social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development.
Follow the preschool's curriculum and teaching philosophy.
Classroom Management
Support the Lead Teacher in maintaining a positive and orderly classroom.
Reinforce classroom rules and expectations consistently and appropriately.
Use positive guidance and redirection when helping children with challenging behaviors.
Communicate observations or concerns about children to the Lead Teacher.
Teamwork & Communication
Work cooperatively and respectfully with the Lead Teacher, Assistant Director, Director, and other staff.
Communicate regularly with the Lead Teacher regarding classroom needs and children's well-being.
Health & Safety
Follow all health, safety, emergency, and child supervision procedures.
Assist with maintaining a safe and sanitary classroom environment.
Report accidents, injuries, illnesses, or safety concerns promptly to the Lead Teacher or Director.
Follow all preschool policies and applicable licensing requirements.
Qualifications
Previous experience working with young children preferred.
Genuine love and patience for young children.
Ability to work cooperatively as part of a teaching team.
Dependable, responsible, and punctual.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to follow directions and take initiative when appropriate.
Must meet all applicable state licensing, education, and background-check requirements.
