Job DescriptionPart-Time Human Resources Benefits Specialist Location: Carlsbad, CA (Onsite) Schedule: Part-Time | Flexible Hours | 20-30 Hours per Week Pay: $30.00-$35.00/hour Length: Contract Assignment (6-8 Months) with potential extension based on business needs and performance Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and employee-focused Human Resources Benefits Specialist to join their team on a part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys supporting employees, administering benefits programs, and contributing to a positive workplace culture. The ideal candidate will have experience managing benefits administration, partnering with brokers and leave administrators, answering employee questions, and supporting a variety of HR initiatives. This role is fully onsite in Carlsbad and offers a flexible schedule of 20-30 hours per week. Responsibilities
- Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and ongoing maintenance
- Support annual open enrollment processes and communicate benefit updates to employees
- Partner with benefits brokers and vendors to ensure smooth administration of benefit plans
- Serve as a resource for employee questions regarding benefits, leaves, and HR-related inquiries
- Review benefit invoices and billing calculations to ensure accuracy
- Maintain and update employee benefit records within HR systems
- Assist with Leave of Absence administration and coordinate with third-party leave administrators
- Support workers' compensation processes as needed
- Assist with employee wellness initiatives, recognition programs, and company events
- Help foster a positive employee experience and workplace culture
- Provide general HR support and assist with various employee-related programs and projects
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations related to benefits administration
Qualifications
- 3+ years of Human Resources or Benefits Administration experience
- Strong communication and employee-facing customer service skills
- Experience with UKG or similar HRIS preferred
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable working independently and managing priorities with minimal supervision
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to quickly learn new systems, processes, and procedures
- Confident, approachable, and service-oriented personality
