Job Description
Job DescriptionAbout the Role
This is a zero-to-one brand-building role at an early-stage ambient AI startup, sitting at the intersection of Product, Engineering, and a global marketing team. You'll own US brand execution end-to-end — defining narrative, voice, and market position in a crowded AI space — while feeding real audience signal back into what the company builds next.
What You'll Do
-
Identify and validate the core early-adopter audience through lightweight experiments, qualitative interviews, and community signal-reading.
-
Develop a sharp, defensible brand narrative and voice that resonates with AI-native and power-user segments.
-
Write, test, and iterate on marketing copy, positioning, and brand identity directly — not hand off to an agency.
-
Run messaging experiments across audience segments and double down on what demonstrably works.
-
Own channel and sequencing decisions, determining which platforms deserve a real presence and when.
-
Collaborate with Product and Engineering as an upstream stakeholder, translating audience insights into roadmap input.
-
Coordinate with the global branding team to keep US execution aligned as the brand evolves.
What We're Looking For
-
3+ years building brand narrative and voice from scratch for consumer or prosumer products — not executing existing brand guidelines.
-
Proven ability to write sharp, concise copy and turn a rough product thesis into a narrative that lands with a specific audience.
-
Demonstrated track record running lightweight brand validation experiments without a fully scripted playbook.
-
Experience making independent platform and channel sequencing decisions based on brand fit and audience analysis.
-
Comfort owning ambiguous brand strategy questions and executing with autonomy at an early-stage company.
-
Clear, defensible point of view on what great brand work looks like in the AI and consumer space.
-
Background in brand strategy, positioning consultancy, or 0→1 brand work at early-stage startups — experience with consumer AI or productivity apps (e.g. PKM, second brain, or ambient AI tools) is a strong plus.
-
An existing personal following on X/Twitter or LinkedIn in the AI/productivity space is a plus.
-
Bilingual fluency in English and Mandarin is a plus.
-
No visa sponsorship available.
Location
Hybrid — 3 days per week in office in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.
