Mama Musubi, located in Los Angeles/Hollywood, is looking for a dependable and motivated Catering & Kitchen Porter to join our team. At Mama Musubi, we specialize in crafting traditional Japanese rice balls (omusubi / onigiri) with care, quality, and hospitality. From corporate catering to community events, we bring comfort food to life—and behind every successful event is a dedicated team ensuring everything runs smoothly. That’s where you come in!
What You’ll Do
As our Catering & Kitchen Porter, you’ll be the backbone of our late-night/graveyard operations, ensuring our kitchen and catering vans are ready for the next day’s events. Here’s what your responsibilities will include:
Catering Van Loading & Unloading
- Load and stage catering vans with coolers, warmers, utensils, and other event essentials based on packing lists.
- Secure all cargo to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
- Unload returning vehicles after events, sort dirty ware for washing, and sweep out vehicle interiors.
Dishwashing & Facility Sanitation
- Wash, sanitize, and store catering equipment, prep tools, and smallwares.
- Maintain a clean and organized dish area, dry storage, and walk-in coolers.
- Handle daily trash, recycling, and floor care in prep and loading areas.
Kitchen & Food Prep Support (As Needed)
- Assist with basic kitchen tasks like washing vegetables, portioning ingredients, or boxing orders.
- Help receive and stock incoming deliveries of dry goods and produce.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a candidate with the following skills and qualifications:
- Physical Stamina: Comfortable standing, bending, and lifting 40–50 lbs regularly.
- Reliability: A strong track record of punctuality—our catering schedules depend on it!
- Organizational Eye: Detail-oriented when packing vans and following checklists to ensure nothing is missed.
- Team Attitude: Willing to jump in wherever needed in a busy kitchen environment.
- Driver’s License (Bonus): A valid driver’s license with a clean record is a plus, but not required.
