Role Description The Engine and Drive Train Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Lakeside, CA. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining engines and drive train systems on a variety of vehicles and equipment used in defense-related operations. Day-to-day tasks include performing scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, conducting detailed inspections, and documenting all work performed in accordance with company and regulatory standards. The technician will use diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and service bulletins to identify faults and implement corrective actions. The role also involves collaborating with other maintenance personnel, following strict safety protocols, maintaining an organized work area, and participating in ongoing training to stay current with evolving technologies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of engine systems, powertrains, transmissions, differentials, and related mechanical components.

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, service bulletins, and maintenance documentation.

\n

• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment commonly used in engine and drive train service.

\n

• Experience performing preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and functional testing on vehicles or heavy equipment.

• Understanding of safety regulations, shop best practices, and quality control procedures in a maintenance environment.

\n

• Effective problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to document work clearly and accurately.

\n

• Capacity to work collaboratively with a team, communicate clearly with supervisors and peers, and follow written and verbal instructions.

\n

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment technology is preferred.

\n

• Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE or equivalent) and prior experience in military, defense, or fleet maintenance environments are a plus.

\n

• Ability to meet physical requirements of the role, including standing for extended periods, lifting components, and working in shop and field conditions.
