Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room (OR)
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room provides specialized perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. The RN prepares the operating room, assists the surgical team before, during, and after surgery, maintains a sterile environment, monitors patient safety, and ensures high-quality surgical care in accordance with clinical standards and organizational policies.
Requirements:

Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.

Current BLS certification required.

ACLS certification preferred or required per facility policy.

CNOR certification preferred.

Recent Operating Room (OR) or perioperative nursing experience preferred.
Responsibilities:

Prepare the operating room, surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies for procedures.

Provide preoperative, intraoperative, and immediate postoperative nursing care.

Assist surgeons and the surgical team while maintaining sterile technique.

Perform circulating and/or scrub nurse duties based on competency and facility requirements.

Monitor patient condition throughout surgical procedures and respond to changes appropriately.

Ensure accurate instrument, sponge, and sharps counts according to policy.

Maintain accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical records.

Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Follow infection prevention, patient safety, HIPAA, and regulatory standards.

Participate in on-call rotation as required by the facility.

Perform other duties as assigned.
