Role Description The Director of Human Resources is a full-time, on-site role located in Grover Beach, CA, responsible for leading all HR functions across the organization. This role oversees HR policy development and implementation, ensuring compliance with labor and employment laws and alignment with company values. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing employee relations, handling escalated employee concerns, supporting performance management processes, and guiding leaders on coaching, feedback, and disciplinary actions. The Director of Human Resources designs and administers talent acquisition, onboarding, training, and retention initiatives to support a positive workplace culture. This role also collaborates with senior leadership on workforce planning, compensation and benefits strategy, HR metrics, and continuous improvement of HR practices.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Human Resources (HR) management, including experience leading multi-location or retail HR operations.
  • \n

  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and maintain HR Policies that are compliant, clear, and aligned with organizational values.
  • \n

  • Expertise in Employee Relations, including conflict resolution, coaching managers, and supporting a respectful, inclusive workplace.
  • \n

  • Experience with Performance Management processes, such as goal setting, performance reviews, and development planning.
  • \n

  • Advanced knowledge of Labor and Employment Law, with experience applying federal, state, and local regulations in day-to-day HR decisions.
  • \n

  • Proven leadership skills, including the ability to influence senior leaders, mentor HR staff, and drive organizational change.
  • \n

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with experience using HR data and metrics to inform strategies.
  • \n

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • \n

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred.
  • \n

  • Experience in retail, hospitality, or a customer-focused environment is highly beneficial.
  • \n

  • Wage range: $120,000-$135,000
