Position Summary The Procurement Supervisor leads purchasing operations, strategic sourcing, and inventory planning to ensure cost-effective, compliant, and timely delivery of raw materials, packaging, and supplies. This role manages supplier relationships, supervises purchasing staff, and ensures alignment with food safety, quality, and budget targets.
Key Objectives
- 5 Rights of Procurement: Secure the Right Quality (meet standards & QA), Right Quantity (minimize excess stock), Right Place (coordinate logistics), Right Time (align with production), and Right Price (negotiate competitive terms).
- Supplier Performance: Build strategic vendor partnerships to boost reliability, service, and value.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement & Sourcing: Approve POs, negotiate terms, solicit quotes, evaluate supplier metrics, and identify back-up suppliers to mitigate supply risks.
- Supplier Management: Maintain vendor relationships, resolve quality/delivery/invoice issues, and coordinate with QA on supplier audits and approvals.
- Inventory & Planning: Collaborate with Production and Warehouse teams on demand forecasting, reorder points, safety stock, and material receipt.
- Financial & Cost Control: Track purchasing budgets, perform cost analysis to identify savings, and maintain strict financial controls.
- Quality & Compliance: Maintain COAs and specifications in compliance with FDA, HACCP, GMP, and FSSC 22000 standards; support audits.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and evaluate purchasing staff, set departmental KPIs, and promote continuous improvement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner daily with Operations, QA, and Accounting to proactively communicate supply risks and priorities.
