Schedule: Typically Tuesday–Saturday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM. Hours and days may vary depending on project schedules, weather, emergencies, and business needs.
Pay: $19–$25/hour, based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Job Description
We are seeking a hardworking, dependable, and safety-conscious Groundsman to support our tree care, plant health care, landscaping, and irrigation operations.
This is a physically demanding, hands-on position involving outdoor work in changing weather conditions. Duties vary depending on the needs of each job and may include assisting tree climbers, hauling branches and debris, planting, digging, spreading mulch, performing landscape maintenance, assisting with irrigation repairs, and supporting plant health care treatments.
The ideal candidate is reliable, takes initiative, follows directions, works well as part of a team, and is willing to learn every part of our operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist arborists and tree climbers with tree pruning, crown cleaning, crown thinning, crown reduction, and tree removals.
- Handle ropes and ground-support duties as directed by the crew supervisor or climber.
- Drag, lift, carry, cut, and load branches, logs, green waste, and other heavy materials.
- Operate or assist with equipment such as chainsaws, wood chippers, stump grinders, pole saws, hedge trimmers, blowers, and other power and hand tools, when properly trained and authorized.
- Load, secure, unload, organize, and account for tools, equipment, machinery, and job materials.
- Perform job-site cleanup and leave client properties clean and orderly.
- Set up cones, warning signs, barriers, and work zones while helping maintain a safe job-site.
- Assist with landscape maintenance, including mowing, edging, trimming, weeding, raking, cleanup, and green-waste removal.
- Assist with landscape installations and improvements, including planting trees, shrubs, and other plants; digging; soil preparation; mulching; fertilizing; and removing or replacing plant material.
- Assist with irrigation inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, adjustments, installations, and system mapping.
- Support plant health care services, including soil drenches, trunk injections, fertilization, and other treatments under the direction of trained or licensed personnel.
- Assist with property inspections, tree inventories, GPS mapping, and documentation when needed.
- Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and basic maintenance of tools, vehicles, and equipment.
- Follow company safety procedures, equipment instructions, and required personal protective equipment practices.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers and follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
- Assist with emergency and storm-response work when needed.
- Perform other tree care, landscaping, irrigation, plant health care, and general labor duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Previous tree care, landscaping, irrigation, construction, or outdoor labor experience is preferred but not required.
- Willingness to perform all services offered by IC Trees, including tree care, landscaping, plant health care, irrigation, cleanup, and general labor.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
- Ability to repeatedly lift, carry, push, pull, and move 50 pounds or more.
- Ability to bend, kneel, squat, climb, reach, stand, and walk throughout the workday.
- Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, sun, wind, dust, and other changing conditions.
- Strong attention to safety and the ability to follow instructions and established procedures.
- Dependable attendance, punctuality, and reliable transportation to the designated meeting location.
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a crew and maintain a professional attitude with coworkers and clients.
- Willingness to learn new skills and accept feedback and training.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Candidates must be eligible to operate company vehicles under the company’s insurance requirements.
- Availability to work the typical Tuesday–Saturday schedule and occasional extended hours or emergency calls when needed.
- English/Spanish bilingual ability is helpful but not required.
