Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable, safety-conscious CNC Machine Operator to run production on our CNC lathe, and milling machines. In this role, you will be responsible for loading raw materials, monitoring active machine cycles, inspecting finished parts to ensure they meet tight tolerances, and performing basic deburring. While setup experience is not required—our lead setup machinists handle tool changes and program adjustments—candidates must have proven, hands-on experience operating CNC mills or lathes in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Part Production: Safely load raw stock, castings, or blanks into CNC lathes and vertical/horizontal mills, execute the program, and unload finished components.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and go/no-go gauges) to verify adherence to blueprint specifications.
- Machine Monitoring: Observe machine operations during production runs to detect potential malfunctions, unusual vibrations, or tool wear; report issues immediately to supervisors or lead machinists.
- Part Finishing: Perform secondary operations such as deburring, cleaning, and stamping finished metal or plastic parts.
- Documentation: Accurately record production counts, part inspection results, and downtime logs in the shop floor management system.
- Shop Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized work area adhering to strict 5S and OSHA safety standards, including proper chip removal and coolant management.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- CNC Operating Experience: Minimum of 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience operating CNC lathes and/or CNC milling machines in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical engineering drawings, tolerances, and process sheets.
- Measuring Tools: Demonstrated proficiency using standard shop floor inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, and indicators).
- Safety & Work Ethic: Strong commitment to shop floor safety, including mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, reach, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Haas, DMG Mori, Tsugami, or Doosan machine controls.
- Basic understanding of G-code and M-code structure (troubleshooting or minor offset adjustments are a plus, though not required).
- Previous experience working in an ISO-certified or aerospace/automotive manufacturing environment.
