Job Description

About GSFA

\n

Golden State Fencing Academy is a competitive youth fencing club in San Francisco, coached by Olympic and international-level coaches. We run group classes, private lessons, and a competitive program for kids ages 5 and up.

\n

The Role

\n

We need someone to be the face of the club during our busiest, most parent-facing class times, and to keep billing, scheduling, and marketing running smoothly the rest of the week. This is a hybrid role: a few hours on-site each week plus flexible remote work you log on your own time.

\n

Schedule

\n

On-site (required, about 10 hours per week. Exact days/hours can be flexible):

\n

Sample on-site schedule:

\n

    \n
  • Tuesday, 4:00 to 6:00pm
  • \n

  • Thursday, 4:00 to 6:00pm
  • \n

  • Saturday, 10:00am to 4:00pm
  • \n

\n

Remote and as-needed (logged hours, about 4 hours per week):

\n

    \n
  • Following up on parent questions and new inquiries
  • \n

  • Social media posts and promotional follow-up emails
  • \n

  • Scheduling private lessons outside on-site hours
  • \n

\n

What You'll Do

\n

    \n
  • Be the primary point of contact for parents during on-site hours: check-ins, program questions, private lesson scheduling
  • \n

  • Proactively recommend additional lessons or classes to families based on their fencer's progress. This role has a soft sales component and the bonus is tied to it
  • \n

  • Follow up with parents on trial classes, renewals, and at-risk memberships to reduce drop-off
  • \n

  • Manage day-to-day billing in Gymdesk: catch failed payments, follow up on overdue accounts, keep member records current
  • \n

  • Execute day-to-day marketing: social posts, email follow-ups, and promotional pushes for camps and programs.
  • \n

\n

Must Have

\n

    \n
  • Comfortable and warm with parents and kids. You'll be the primary point of contact for most families during your shifts
  • \n

  • Strong written communication, especially email. You'll be writing to parents daily
  • \n

  • Comfortable with everyday software: Gmail, Google Docs and Sheets, and picking up a new tool like Gymdesk quickly
  • \n

  • Organized, with the discipline to work independently during remote hours
  • \n

  • Able to pass a background check. Because we work with minors, employment is contingent on a Live Scan background check and mandated reporter training, both of which we arrange and pay for
  • \n

\n

Nice to Have

\n

    \n
  • Marketing or social media experience. You don't need to be a strategist, but you should be comfortable posting content and writing a friendly promotional email
  • \n

  • Customer service or front-of-house experience
  • \n

  • Gym or youth sports background
  • \n

\n

Why This Role

\n

You'll have real ownership over the member experience and a direct hand in growing the club, with predictable on-site shifts, flexible remote hours you control, and a bonus structure that rewards you when your work turns into new enrollments and renewed memberships.

\n

You'll get valuable experience in sales and marketing and can have a direct impact on growing a business' revenue.
