GIS Consultant with Linear Referencing / Pipleline / DOT / HCA
Job Description
Job Description
GIS Consultant - Utility Pipeline Systems
This is a specialized GIS position supporting pipeline infrastructure. You'll be working with pipeline data, compliance frameworks, and the kind of spatial analysis where accuracy isn't just preferred, it's legally required.
Our client needs someone who understands that when you're mapping High Consequence Areas or managing DOT Class Locations, you're not just moving data around. You're supporting decisions that impact public safety and regulatory compliance.
The Non-Negotiables:
- ArcGIS Pro - You live in this platform
- Pipeline Referencing & LRS - You understand linear referencing systems for gas utilities (not just in theory, you've actually built and managed them)
- GIS Data Analysis You can interrogate spatial data and make it tell the story it needs to tell
- SQL & Relational Databases You write queries that actually work
- Python Scripting Automation is second nature to you
- Mapping & Visualization - You know how to present complex infrastructure data clearly
What Would Make You Stand Out:
You don't need all of these, but the more you bring, the better:
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Experience with in-line inspections, High Consequence Areas, DOT Class Location requirements
- Background in risk modeling for regulated utilities
- Understanding compliance reporting when stakes are high
Technical Depth:
- Esri Utility Network experience
- Enterprise Asset Management systems
- ETL processes (Extract, Transform, Load)
- Software development lifecycle knowledge
- SAP integrations
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Redshift)
Process & Communication:
- Workflow automation and quality control design
- User training and documentation (you can explain technical concepts to non-technical users)
- Power BI dashboards and data visualization
- Agile/Scrum methodology
- Contract position (W2 or Corp-to-Corp)
- Fully remote, Pacific Time hours required Monday-Friday schedule
Who Should Apply:
If you've worked in regulated environments, especially gas pipeline operations, utilities, energy, and you understand that GIS isn't just about making maps, it's about supporting mission-critical decisions with accurate spatial intelligence, we should talk.
This role requires someone who can work independently, communicate clearly about technical topics, and understand the weight of compliance-driven work.
