Job Description
Kenney Relic Sign Co. is a San Diego-based licensed contractor specializing in the design, fabrication, and installation of custom illuminated and non-illuminated signs, as well as vehicle and architectural wraps. The Sign Production Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Oceanside, CA, responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the sign production shop. This position coordinates workflow from design handoff through fabrication and installation, ensuring jobs are scheduled efficiently, materials are ordered, and production deadlines are met. The manager supervises production staff, assigns tasks, monitors quality standards, and enforces safety procedures and equipment maintenance. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing work orders and drawings, communicating with project managers and installers, tracking job status, and resolving production issues. This role also supports continuous improvement by refining processes, optimizing use of machinery and materials, and contributing to a collaborative, solution-oriented work environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage day-to-day operations of the sign production department, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and on time completions.
- Oversee the full production process from artwork approval and material purchasing, to fabrication, finishing and installation.
- Schedule jobs based on deadlines, workload, material arrival, and customer requirements.
- Lead, train, and supervise production staff and installers while promoting a sofe and productive work environment.
- Review work orders, drawings and specifications to ensure production requirements are accurately executed.
- Coordinate with internal teams to resolve production issues and maintain timelines.
- Maintain inventory levels according to KANBAN system, and work order demands.
- Maintain production equipment, tools, and machinery to minimize downtie and ensure consistent quality.
- Establish and enfore quality-control standards for fabrication, finishing, electrical components, installation and overall apperance.
- Develop and improve production procedures, workflows, and standard operating practices to increase efficiency and capacity.

Qualifications
\n

- Experience managing sign production, workflow and job scheduling in a sign company REQUIRED.
- Knowledge of sign manufacturing processes and materials (e.g., illuminated and non-illuminated signs, wraps, substrates, hardware, and finishing methods).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, design files, and work orders, and translate them into clear production steps.
- Strong leadership skills with experience supervising and training production staff, promoting safety and teamwork.
- Proficiency with production tools and equipment commonly used in sign fabrication (e.g., printers, plotters, CNC routers, laminators, hand tools).
- Solid organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with designers, project managers, installers, vendors, and clients.
- Understanding of quality control practices and commitment to delivering precise, high-standard finished products.

This job is a full-time, on-site position and typical working hours are 7am to 3:30pm, with an expectation of varying overtime based on workload and schedule.
