We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to support daily financial processing and donation-related accounting activities for a non-profit based in Los Angeles. This long-term contract position plays an important role in maintaining accurate records, reconciling transactions, and ensuring payment activity is handled efficiently in a high-volume environment. The ideal candidate brings strong data entry accuracy, accounting knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines while collaborating with internal teams. For the right candidate, this role could lead to a full-time offer. Previous experience working with grants and donations is preferred.


Responsibilities:

• Manage credit card payment processing with a high level of accuracy, including establishing and tracking recurring or scheduled transactions.

• Review daily credit card activity, balance processed transactions, and prepare supporting reports for accounting records.

• Research payment discrepancies by coordinating with banking partners, donor support teams, and contributors, then complete necessary refunds or account corrections.

• Maintain organized financial documentation by filing, scanning, and monitoring batches and reports to support recordkeeping requirements.

• Enter cash transaction data during high-volume periods, including annual campaigns and special fundraising efforts.

• Reconcile credit-related activity within the donor management system to ensure records align with financial transactions.

• Process employee payroll donations, electronic contributions, and cash suspense items in accordance with established procedures.

• Participate in cross-functional training and provide coverage or assistance to other operations and accounting areas when needed.

• Support system-related enhancements within the donor management platform and assist with additional assignments or special projects as directed.

• High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• Solid foundation in accounting practices and data processing principles.
• Demonstrated experience handling high-volume data entry within automated accounting systems.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors and maintain accurate financial records.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with internal teams and external contacts.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities under deadline pressure.
• Experience with Blackbaud or similar donor management/accounting systems is preferred.
