FIELD HR CONSULTANT – SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TERRITORY

Part-Time with Opportunity to Grow into Full-Time
Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred


Workforce Consultants is seeking an experienced, highly motivated Field HR Consultant to support our growing client base throughout Southern California. This is a hands-on consulting position for an HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, works independently, and enjoys solving complex HR and employee-relations challenges. Our consultants work directly with multiple clients across a variety of industries, providing practical HR guidance, compliance support, and onsite assistance. The ideal candidate is confident working autonomously, exceptionally organized, responsive, and able to shift priorities quickly as client needs change.


This position reports to the President and requires frequent travel throughout Southern California, including regular onsite client support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted HR resource and consultant to multiple assigned clients.
  • Provide hands-on HR support in employee relations, performance management, investigations, leaves of absence, accommodations, wage and hour compliance, and other day-to-day HR matters.
  • Advise clients regarding federal and California employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Conduct HR compliance audits and assist with development and implementation of policies, procedures, employee handbooks, and HR programs.
  • Support onboarding, offboarding, disciplinary actions, workplace investigations, and other employee lifecycle activities.
  • Assist clients with payroll, HRIS, timekeeping, and related HR systems as needed.
  • Manage multiple client projects, deadlines, and urgent employee matters simultaneously.
  • Maintain timely and professional communication with clients and internal team members.
  • Travel frequently to client locations throughout Southern California.
  • Participate in networking, business development activities, and meetings with prospective clients.
  • Represent Workforce Consultants professionally and build strong, long-term client relationships.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience, including significant hands-on employee relations and compliance responsibilities.
  • Strong working knowledge of California and federal employment laws and workplace compliance requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and judgment skills.
  • Experience working with multiple HRIS, payroll, and timekeeping platforms.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple clients, projects, deadlines, and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work with limited day-to-day supervision.
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently throughout Southern California.
  • Flexibility to work and travel during regular business hours and, when client needs require, outside normal business hours.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to client locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • HR consulting or professional-services experience.
  • Experience supporting multiple employers or business units simultaneously.
  • Experience conducting workplace investigations, HR audits, compliance training, and employee-relations matters.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHRca, or similar HR certification.


Position & Growth Opportunity

This position will initially be a part-time, non-exempt role with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position based on business needs and performance. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to develop into increased client leadership and management-level responsibilities as the role grows. You should be comfortable making sound HR recommendations, managing your own schedule, traveling between client locations, and adjusting quickly when an urgent client matter changes the day's priorities.
