Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist / Setup Operator with hands-on experience operating and setting up 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC mills. Candidates with CNC lathe experience are highly encouraged to apply. This is a production-focused machining role where the primary responsibilities include machine setup, tool changes, offset adjustments, troubleshooting, blueprint reading, and inspection of precision-machined components. Programming is not required, but candidates with Mastercam or CNC programming experience will be considered a plus. The ideal candidate will have experience machining tight-tolerance parts and be comfortable taking a job from setup through final inspection.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC mills.
- Perform machine setups, tool changes, work offsets, and wear offset adjustments.
- Load and run existing CNC programs.
- Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements.
- Verify dimensions and quality using precision measuring instruments.
- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections.
- Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues as they arise.
- Maintain tooling, fixtures, and workholding equipment.
- Perform deburring, grinding, tapping, cutting stock, and other secondary operations as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of CNC setup and operating experience.
- Experience with 3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis CNC mills.
- CNC lathe experience is a plus.
- Ability to perform complete machine setups independently.
- Experience changing tooling, adjusting offsets, and troubleshooting machining issues.
- Strong blueprint reading skills.
- Working knowledge of GD&T and tight-tolerance machining.
- Experience using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other precision inspection equipment.
- Strong understanding of tooling, feeds, speeds, and machining processes.
- Good math and problem-solving skills.
- Reliable attendance and dependable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Aerospace, medical device, defense, or precision manufacturing experience.
- Experience with Haas, Mazak, Mori Seiki, Okuma, DMG Mori, Makino, or similar CNC equipment.
- Knowledge of Mastercam or CNC programming (not required).
- Technical school, apprenticeship program, or equivalent machining training.
- Experience machining complex parts with tight tolerances.

Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing environment that focuses on precision machining and quality production. You will work with CNC mills and lathes, primarily Haas machines with Fanuc controls, handling 35 axis operations and producing components that may include aerospace parts. The facility follows established procedures, safety guidelines, and ISO standards, emphasizing a structured and process-driven workplace. The role involves standing at machines, handling tools and materials, and working around typical shop equipment and noise levels associated with machining operations.

This is a Permanent position based out of Covina, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $75.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
