Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Quality Assurance Coordinator to support compliance, documentation quality, and operational excellence for a non-profit organization in Gardena, California. This contract position offers a path to a permanent role and will play a key role in strengthening program standards, guiding staff on quality practices, and helping maintain alignment with county and state requirements. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in quality assurance within behavioral health or human services and is comfortable balancing audits, training, and team oversight in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Develop, refine, and help implement program policies and procedures that support adherence to county and state regulatory expectations.
• Review clinical and service records on a recurring basis to verify that notes, assessments, treatment plans, and discharge documentation meet required standards.
• Monitor the accuracy and day-to-day effectiveness of the electronic billing and documentation system to promote compliant recordkeeping practices.
• Provide direction and support to administrative team members, including oversight of the Information Systems Clerk and other support staff.
• Deliver training and coaching to employees on quality assurance processes, documentation standards, and continuous improvement practices.
• Participate in external quality improvement meetings as a representative of the organization and communicate relevant updates back to internal teams.
• Track compliance trends, identify areas needing corrective action, and collaborate with leadership to improve documentation and workflow outcomes.
• Carry out responsibilities in alignment with contract requirements, departmental procedures, and organizational policies.• Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a closely related field.
• Current California mental health practitioner license is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in quality assurance, compliance review, or documentation auditing within behavioral health, healthcare, or human services settings.
• Knowledge of county and state documentation standards, regulatory guidelines, and quality improvement practices.
• Ability to train staff, provide constructive feedback, and support process improvement initiatives.
• Experience supervising or coordinating the work of administrative or support personnel.
• Familiarity with electronic records, billing systems, and quality assurance tracking tools.
• Understanding of manual testing, quality assurance methodologies, and automation tools such as Selenium is a plus.
