Air & Ocean Export Coordinator
Torrance, CA | $22–$23 per hour | Full-Time | On-Site
Monday–Friday | 8:30 a.m. start
We are hiring an Air & Ocean Export Coordinator to support international freight forwarding operations in Torrance.
This position is ideal for someone with previous export logistics experience who understands how to coordinate shipments, prepare documentation, communicate with customers and carriers, and keep multiple shipments moving on schedule. The Export Coordinator will work closely with customers, vendors, trucking companies, warehouses, airlines, ocean carriers, accounting, and overseas teams throughout the shipping process.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate international Air and Ocean Export shipments and monitor shipment progress.
- Arrange bookings and communicate shipment requirements to carriers, truckers, warehouses, and other service providers.
- Obtain vendor and carrier rates and prepare customer quotations.
- Prepare and review export documents including Air Waybills, Ocean Bills of Lading, shipping instructions, and AES/EEI filings.
- Confirm shipment details and documentation are accurate before cargo departure.
- Provide customers with shipment updates and respond to questions, order requests, and service issues.
- Enter shipment, billing, and documentation information into internal logistics systems.
- Process customer billing and review vendor invoices and freight-related charges for accuracy.
- Coordinate terminal charges, service fees, and other shipment-related payments with accounting.
- Maintain organized and accurate shipment files, customer records, and supporting documentation.
- Troubleshoot routine shipment delays, documentation discrepancies, and operational issues.
- Assist with departmental procedures and training of new team members when needed.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of Air and Ocean Export, freight forwarding, or international logistics experience preferred.
- Previous hands-on experience coordinating international export shipments.
- Familiarity with AES/EEI filings, AWBs, BOLs, shipping instructions, and export documentation.
- Experience communicating with airlines, ocean carriers, trucking companies, warehouses, vendors, and customers.
- Knowledge of freight quotations, carrier/vendor rates, billing, and invoice processing preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet time-sensitive shipment deadlines.
- Excellent organization, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple shipments and responsibilities simultaneously.
- Comfortable working independently while following established procedures.
- Basic computer and arithmetic skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Dangerous Goods or Hazmat certification is a plus but may be obtained as required.
This is a primarily office-based position with occasional exposure to a warehouse environment. We are looking for someone dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of daily export coordination responsibilities.
