Job DescriptionAt Waxing the City, our licensed service providers are not only waxing experts, they’re waxing authorities. This led us to create our very own title of Cerologist™ technicians, combining “cera” (Latin for wax) with “ologist” (to highlight their level of education and expertise). After a week-long, hands-on training course at our Waxing University®, our service providers become certified Cerologists.

Do you love waxing, building client relationships, and helping people feel confident? We’re seeking a full-time, licensed beauty professional with proven waxing experience to join our growing team as a Lead Cerologist.

The ideal candidate is a confident, high-performing service provider who delivers exceptional guest experiences, builds a loyal clientele, and is ready to take on additional leadership responsibilities. As a Lead Cerologist, you’ll model studio standards, mentor fellow Cerologists, and help foster a positive, accountable team culture, with the opportunity to develop into a Cerologist Trainer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform professional face and body waxing services in accordance with Waxing the City standards, protocols, and state board regulations.
• Build and maintain a loyal book of business through exceptional guest experiences, strong relationships, rebooking, retention, and referrals.
• Educate guests on pre- and post-wax care while confidently recommending personalized services, add-ons, retail products, memberships, and packages.
• Meet individual performance goals for sales, rebooking, retention, and other key studio metrics.
• Model high studio standards for professionalism, sanitation, cleanliness, guest communication, teamwork, and accountability.
• Support and mentor fellow Cerologists by modeling best practices, answering questions, and providing constructive feedback.
• Participate in ongoing technical education, sales coaching, role-playing, and professional development.
• Support studio growth and a positive team culture through collaboration, referrals, social media, community engagement, and daily studio operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Required: Current CA State Licensure in good standing (Esthetician, Cosmetologist)
• Required: Weekend availability.
• 2+ years of professional waxing, esthetics, or high-volume hair-removal experience.
• Willingness to learn and consistently follow Waxing the City techniques and protocols.
• Proven ability to build strong client relationships and drive rebooking, retention, and repeat business.
• Previous sales experience, including recommending products, services, memberships, packages, upgrades, add-ons, or other solutions based on client needs.
• Experience working toward individual or team KPIs, sales goals, or performance targets.
• Strong product knowledge and ability to connect aftercare recommendations to individual guest needs.
• Demonstrated leadership, initiative, reliability, and professionalism, with the ability to model standards and support the development of fellow team members.
• Coachable and committed to learning, consistently following, and ultimately helping reinforce Waxing the City techniques, protocols, guest experience, and studio standards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Stand for extended periods (often 6–8+ hours per shift).
• Bend, reach, squat, and move throughout the studio.
• Perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements.
• Maintain dexterity for precise waxing services.
• Lift and carry supplies up to approximately 20–25 pounds.
