Take your expertise in special education to the next level by supporting middle school students with a contract opportunity in the vibrant Berkeley, CA area. This full-time position (35-37.5 hours per week) begins ASAP and continues through the end of the school year, providing a chance to make a meaningful impact for students who thrive under dedicated, skilled guidance.
You’ll work with a manageable caseload of middle schoolers focusing on English Language Arts and History, helping to shape their academic growth and social-emotional wellbeing. Your background will enable you to implement individualized instruction and collaborate with faculty to deliver comprehensive support.
To excel in this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:
- Active California special education teaching credential with Mild/Moderate authorization (required)
- Degree in special education
- Experience with middle school caseloads, preferably within ELA and History subjects
- Strong commitment to fostering inclusive, supportive classroom environments
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering tailored instruction in ELA and History aligned with IEP goals
- Developing, writing, and implementing IEPs in coordination with the education team
- Tracking and reporting student progress effectively
- Engaging in regular communication with families and multidisciplinary team members
- Creating a classroom climate that encourages participation, curiosity, and academic risk-taking
