Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Junior Mechanical Project Manager to support the planning, execution, and delivery of mechanical systems for mission-critical data centers and semiconductor manufacturing facilities. In this role, you will assist senior project managers in coordinating mechanical infrastructure projects—including HVAC, chilled water systems, process cooling, piping, and cleanroom environments—ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented engineer or coordinator looking to grow in the fast-paced, high-tech infrastructure sector.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the full project lifecycle for mechanical scopes, including planning, design review, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout of data center and semiconductor facility projects.
• Assist in managing mechanical system installations such as HVAC, CRAC/CRAH units, chilled water plants, process piping, exhaust systems, and related infrastructure critical to temperature/humidity control and contamination prevention.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams (electrical, architectural, structural, and process engineers), contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
• Track project schedules, budgets, and milestones; prepare progress reports, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
• Monitor construction activities on-site, identify risks or issues, and support resolution to maintain quality, safety, and compliance standards.
• Participate in value engineering, cost estimating, and constructability reviews during pre-construction phases.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards, safety protocols, and client requirements (e.g., Uptime Institute tiers for data centers, SEMI standards for semiconductor environments).
• Support commissioning and handover processes, including testing and verification of mechanical systems.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including meeting minutes, logs, and as-built records.
Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• 1–4 years of relevant experience in project coordination, mechanical systems, construction, or facilities projects (internships or co-ops count toward experience).
• Basic understanding of mechanical systems in critical environments, such as data center cooling, HVAC design, or industrial/process piping.
• Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
• Willingness to work on-site in active construction or operational facilities (with appropriate safety training).
Preferred
• Experience or exposure to data center construction, semiconductor fabs, or other mission-critical facilities.
• Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, SEMI, etc.).
• Internship or entry-level experience in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) projects.
• PMP, CAPM, or other project management certification (or willingness to pursue).
• Familiarity with BIM/Revit or construction management software.
