Job Description Senior Development Accountant | Real Estate Developer San Rafael, CA Hybrid (1 or 2 days onsite only)
Our client, a respected real estate developer, is looking for a Senior Development Accountant to own the financials of projects from first loan draw to stabilized operations. If you like construction, job cost accounting, real estate development, or Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) work, please apply.
What you’ll do
- Partner with project managers to hit key milestones throughout the development cycle
- Prepare and submit loan draw requests for complex development and re-syndication projects
- Track actual costs and funding against budgets and contracts in the Job Cost module, and analyze variances
- Perform GL analysis, account reconciliations, monthly close, and financial statements for an assigned portfolio
- Prepare cost certification audits and annual audit schedules, and work with external auditors to file audits and tax returns on time
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, company policies, partnership and loan agreements, and LIHTC requirements
- Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis as needed
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration (CPA preferred)
- 3+ years of general ledger experience with increasing responsibility
- Experience with job costing, real estate development, or construction/rehab accounting
- Advanced Excel skills, plus Word, Access, and Outlook
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High accuracy and accountability, and the ability to manage shifting priorities
A plus
- LIHTC and GAAP knowledge
- Experience reviewing loan, partnerships, or regulatory agreements
- Enterprise accounting software experience, especially RealPage
