Payroll Manager
Role Overview
Stardom Employment Consultants is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager for a valued client in the Fresno area. In this role, you’ll lead accurate, timely payroll operations while supporting compliance, process improvement, and responsive service to employees and leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on schedule.
- Manage payroll tax filings, deductions, garnishments, and year-end reporting.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage-and-hour laws and payroll regulations.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and investigate discrepancies, audits, and employee inquiries.
- Maintain payroll records and protect confidential employee and compensation information.
- Lead, coach, and develop payroll staff; coordinate with HR, Finance, and external providers.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll systems, controls, and processes.
Qualifications
- Several years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership or team oversight.
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax requirements, and wage-and-hour compliance.
- Experience with payroll systems and HRIS platforms; proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated accuracy handling high-volume, multi-state, or complex payrolls.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a high standard of discretion.
- Payroll certification or relevant degree is preferred.
