Job Description

We are seeking a Special Education Teacher for a full-time Extensive Support Needs (ESN) classroom in Milpitas, CA for the remainder of the 2026–2027 school year. This position is ideal for an early-childhood-focused educator who enjoys working with young learners with significant support needs and collaborating with a strong classroom support team.

Schedule: Full-Time
Hours: 8:00 AM–1:30 PM direct service, with prep time after students are dismissed
Setting: ESN (Moderate/Severe) Special Day Class, TK–K
Classroom Support: 4 additional adults in the classroom
Site Resources: On-site sensory room

Responsibilities

Provide specialized instruction to TK–K students with extensive support needs in a self-contained classroom setting.
Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs, including goal writing, progress monitoring, and documentation.
Lead and coordinate a classroom team of 4 support staff, assigning roles and providing guidance throughout the day.
Design and adapt instruction for communication, functional, academic, social, and adaptive skills.
Incorporate sensory strategies and use of the on-site sensory room to support student regulation and engagement.
Implement behavior support plans and positive behavioral strategies.
Collaborate with families, general education staff, related-service providers, and school teams.

Requirements

Active California Education Specialist credential authorizing Moderate/Severe or Extensive Support Needs (ESN). Required.
Previous experience working with students with extensive support needs, preferably in early childhood or TK–K settings.
Experience directing or collaborating with paraprofessionals and classroom support staff.
Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.
Ability to work full-time, on site, through June 8, 2027.

Compensation for this position ranges from $35.34 to $50.34. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
