ORAT Senior Director

Full-Time | Exempt | $182,000-$218,000 DOE | Up to 75% Travel
Lead ORAT at One of the World's Busiest Airports
Plane Inglish is seeking an experienced ORAT Senior Director to lead Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer activities for a major program at San Francisco International Airport (SFO).
This is a senior leadership position for someone who has real ORAT and airport experience and knows what it takes to move a complex facility from construction and commissioning to successful Day One operations.
You will work directly with airport and airline leadership, contractors, design teams, government agencies, vendors, and operational stakeholders to ensure the people, processes, systems, facilities, and stakeholders are ready to operate.
What You'll Do
- Lead the overall ORAT strategy, program, schedule, governance, and readiness plan.
- Serve as a senior advisor to airport and airline leadership.
- Lead complex stakeholder coordination and executive-level meetings.
- Oversee operational trials, simulations, testing, training, and readiness exercises.
- Develop and oversee trial scenarios, scripts, logistics, success criteria, and after-action reviews.
- Lead transition, mobilization, facility handover, and activation activities.
- Identify and resolve operational risks, issues, and readiness gaps.
- Lead and develop ORAT Project Directors, Assignment Leads, and project staff.
- Oversee program reporting, schedules, risk registers, issue logs, and readiness metrics.
- Support client relationships, proposals, and future business development.
What We're Looking For
This is not an entry-level ORAT or general project management position.
We're looking for someone with:
- 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in ORAT, airport operations, aviation program management, commissioning, or facility activation.
- Demonstrated experience leading ORAT programs for major airport development, renovation, terminal, concourse, or activation projects.
- Experience working directly with airport and/or airline leadership.
- Strong knowledge of airport operations, including terminal, baggage, passenger processing, security, facilities, technology, and operational systems.
- Experience leading operational trials, training, transition, and activation.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing project teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field.
- Experience with tools such as Primavera, SharePoint, Prolog, Smartsheet, or similar platforms.
Direct experience with SFO or another major international airport is highly preferred.
