Manual Machine Operator (1st & 2nd Shift)
Location: Montebello, CA
Schedule:
-
1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
-
2nd Shift: 2:30/3:30 PM – 11/12:00 AM (must be flexible to train on 1st then move to 2nd)
About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Manual Machine Operators to join our metal grinding and machining team. This role is responsible for setting up and operating manual surface grinders, Blanchard grinders, and milling machines to produce precision metal components while maintaining quality and production standards.
Responsibilities

Set up and operate manual surface grinders, Blanchard grinders, and milling machines

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions

Select proper tooling, grinding wheels, speeds, and feeds for each job
-
Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring tools

Maintain tight tolerances and quality standards

Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed
-
Perform routine machine maintenance and keep work areas clean and organized

Complete production and quality documentation

Follow all company safety procedures
Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent required
-
2+ years of experience operating manual surface grinders, Blanchard grinders, and/or milling machines
-
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
-
Experience using precision measuring instruments
-
Knowledge of machining practices, feeds, speeds, and grinding wheel selection
-
Familiarity with steel, tool steel, aluminum, and other metal materials
-
Ability to work with close tolerances (±0.001" or better)
-
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
Preferred Qualifications
-
Toolroom or mold/die experience
-
Knowledge of surface finish and flatness requirements
-
Ability to prioritize multiple jobs in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods
-
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
-
Ability to work safely in a machine shop environment
