Description

We are seeking a Production and Supply Chain Supervisor to supervise day-to-day production activities and coordinate material flow in our aerospace production environment. This role supports the transition from engineering builds to repeatable production by keeping technicians, materials, equipment, and work orders aligned with approved schedules and quality requirements.

You will provide daily direction and coaching to production technicians, monitor production progress and material readiness, and coordinate with Program Managers, Engineering, Quality, and Purchasing to address issues affecting execution. This role focuses on safe, efficient production, accurate MRP/ERP transactions, and timely follow-through on material and supplier needs.

What You Will Do

Production Floor Supervision & Execution

  • Supervise manufacturing and production technicians, assign daily work, and communicate priorities and expectations.
  • Coordinate daily and near-term production schedules within approved program priorities, confirming that labor, materials, tooling, and equipment are available.
  • Monitor work order progress, workmanship, and schedule adherence; resolve routine execution issues and escalate constraints requiring additional resources or decisions.
  • Maintain an organized production floor and recommend improvements to layout, workflows, tooling, and work instructions; implement approved changes with Engineering and Quality.
  • Enforce safety practices and ensure production activities follow approved work instructions, AS9100-related procedures, and configuration control requirements.
  • Identify bottlenecks and recurring problems, participate in corrective actions, and follow through on assigned improvements.

Technician Oversight & Training

  • Train, coach, and mentor technicians in approved processes, safe work practices, workmanship standards, and quality expectations.
  • Coordinate onboarding and task qualification with Engineering and Quality, maintaining required training records.
  • Monitor attendance, work assignments, and team performance; provide timely feedback and contribute to performance reviews.
  • Address routine performance concerns and coordinate with leadership and Human Resources on issues requiring formal action.
  • Reinforce accountability, teamwork, and consistent adherence to documented processes.

Production Planning & MRP Coordination

  • Coordinate with Program Managers and Operations to translate approved program schedules into daily and weekly work assignments and material priorities.
  • Review work orders, material availability, and production requirements in the MRP/ERP system.
  • Monitor shortages, long-lead items, and other material risks; coordinate follow-up and escalate potential schedule impacts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of material movements, work order status, and production completion within assigned responsibilities.
  • Flag discrepancies in bills of material, part revisions, routings, or system records and coordinate corrections with the responsible functions.
  • Adjust daily work sequencing within approved priorities and communicate changes affecting program commitments.

Supply Chain & Supplier Coordination

  • Coordinate material availability, receiving, inventory movements, and production kitting to support scheduled builds.
  • Support purchase requisitions and place or follow up on approved purchase orders within delegated purchasing authority.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding order status, delivery dates, shortages, and routine discrepancies; escalate unresolved issues.
  • Support supplier qualification and onboarding by gathering required information and coordinating with Purchasing and Quality.
  • Verify that required supplier documentation and traceability records accompany incoming materials, coordinating discrepancies with Quality.
  • Support supplier nonconformance and corrective action follow-up under the direction of Quality and Purchasing.
  • Reinforce inventory accuracy through proper material handling, transaction discipline, and cycle count support.

Cross-Functional Coordination & Reporting

  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Programs, Purchasing, and Operations to support handoffs from engineering builds to production.
  • Provide regular updates on production progress, material readiness, staffing needs, and open issues.
  • Escalate schedule, supply, quality, or capacity risks promptly, with recommended next steps.
  • Track assigned actions and communicate status through resolution.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in production, manufacturing, or related supply chain operations.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising production technicians or leading a manufacturing team, including work assignment, training, and performance feedback.

  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and accurate production and inventory transactions.
  • Ability to interpret work instructions, production documentation, and applicable quality requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize daily work, resolve routine operational problems, and recognize when issues require escalation.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to coordinate across technical, operational, and program teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or manufacturing environments operating under AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Experience supervising prototype, low-rate, or repeatable production builds.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems such as Odoo, SAP, NetSuite, or Oracle.
  • Experience coordinating purchasing, supplier deliveries, receiving, inventory, or production kitting.
  • Familiarity with configuration control, material traceability, supplier documentation, and nonconformance processes.
