JOB OBJECTIVES:
The Accountant III will be responsible for performing and overseeing the daily activities of accounting and finance in the Bay Area operating company of an international organization. Reporting directly to the CFO/CSO, the position will also be expected to interface in operational activities with other departments, providing input and expertise from a financial management perspective.
JOB DUTIES:
· Oversee the daily finance and accounting activities of the operating company.
· Maintain the general ledger and record regular journal entries and transactions.
· Perform month-end processing and generate timely and accurate financial statements, including monthly account reconciliations and back-up schedules to support general ledger balances, and the preparation of monthly reporting packages.
· Manage daily tracking and recording of cash and credit cards transactions.
· Manage the accounts payable functions to ensure that vendor disbursements are properly recorded, processed, with adequate internal controls and appropriate supporting documentation
· Process invoices and manage the accounts receivable functions to ensure that customer invoices are processed accurately and timely with proper cash application.
· Interface with purchasing and warehouse operations to provide the financial and accounting perspective on inventory management, costing, material receipts and issuances, and the tracking of goods.
· Assist and participate in ongoing forecasting and budgeting, including modeling, projections, variance analysis, and strategic planning.
· Interface with other departments in operational matters to provide a financial perspective and to positively affect efficiency, internal controls, and informational reporting.
· Responsible for timely and accurate compliance reporting, and participation in audits where required.
· Generate special analyses, schedules, or project work as requested
REQUIREMENTS:
· 5+ years of experience in accounting and finance roles
· Degree in accounting/finance
· CPA or CPA-in-progress preferred
· Keen understanding and knowledge of accounting systems and financial reporting.
· Possesses business skills beyond accounting/finance to include operations and manufacturing
· Technical skills in the use of computers, spreadsheets and modeling, accounting applications, and familiarity with AI-assisted tools for analysis and reporting
· Experience in manufacturing and R&D environment a plus
· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders.
· Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with peers.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
· Exempt position working on-site in Walnut Creek office
