Position description
This senior role leads the design, engineering, implementation, optimization, and management of Tenable/Nessus/ACAS solutions in unclassified and classified DoD environments. The engineer will administer Tenable applications hosted on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, so strong Linux system administration and troubleshooting skills are required. The role also requires working knowledge of networking concepts, including the ability to identify and clearly communicate required ports, protocols, and connectivity dependencies.
The lead will coordinate with system administrators, security engineers, and organizational leaders to sustain existing capabilities and engineer new ACAS/Tenable solutions as coverage scope, mission needs, or technical requirements change. Responsibilities include managing a small team of ACAS support engineers, training junior staff, and delivering accurate scan results to customers on time. Strong communication, team leadership, and interpersonal skills are essential. Experience with complex DoD security architectures is strongly preferred. The lead will also interface directly with the government client to explain resource needs, communicate technical dependencies and risks, and provide clear progress updates on projects and operational work.
Sample tasks
Develop and maintain scan policies, zones, and dashboards; interpret findings and recommend remediation; support risk management processes and packages; configure systems to meet applicable federal requirements, including STIGs, FISMA, and FIPS; create and maintain SOPs; respond to incidents and support maintenance; produce technical, functional, and team-lead reports; train staff; and manage the ACAS support team. Other duties may be assigned.
