Cornea Specialist Needed in Chico California - Private Practice

Practice Location:Chico, CA

Population:The patient base is from Butte and surrounding counties as they are rural communities. We have patients from Shasta, Plumas, Yuba, and Sutter counties, but those patients have multiple options for their care.

Butte County – 207,172

Tehema County – 64,896

Glenn County – 28,129

Physician/ Population Ratio:21,450, but over half of the ophthalmologists are about 10 years from retiring. At least 2 of them are 5 years away.

MD Or Corporate Owned:MD owned

Reason for Job Opening:Departing Doctors in December 2025 and after

If Physician is retiring, how much longer will Physician Work:the retiring doctors will stay 2 years, but is open to lessening hours to allow new recruits to build a patient base

Experience Requirement:Board Eligible

Partnership Opportunity: Yes

Target Compensation:$350,000

Bonus Opportunity: 30% of net collections after 3x base met

Retirement Program:401 k with 3% contribution

Other Benefits: medical insurance, reimbursement of $3,000/year for continuing education, reimbursement for licensure and society dues, employer paid liability insurance.

Relocation:reimbursement of up to $10,000, but can take some guidance from you on this.

Vacation/PTO:1 week of sick and 3 weeks of vacation (including educational leave)

Current patient volume: 2024 Jan-Oct ave office visits/dr = 4,400

2023 ave office visit/dr = 5,200

That is about 1,700-2,000 unique patients a year

Annual Vit Procedure:we currently send these patients to the retina consultants. If a new doctor wanted to do injections, we would keep it in house.

Estimated Surg Volume for this role:400 cat surgery/year

Support Staff: scribe and work up technicians

Hospital Call: 3-4 weeks per year

MDs on Staff:1 part time

ODs on Staff:2 FTE

OD Network:Our internal ODs. We do get some cataract referrals form local ODs, but the majority of our surgical volume is our own patients.

OD – patient per day expectation: 30 with a combination of annual exams and follow ups

Refractive Surgery - Lasik:yes, PRK and LASIK
