Controller:
Professional Staffing Ventures is a boutique staffing firm specialized in the construction, manufacturing and services industry. Our client a innovative manufacturer in Southern California, is seeking a highly motivated Controller for their Inland Empire office. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department, including inventory management, accounts payable supervision, corporate reporting requirements and management reporting. Assist in all external reporting, including financial institutions, taxing authorities, and regulatory agencies. INVENTORY, RETAIL, MANUFACTURING OR CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise the processing and auditing (e.g. coding, approvals, lien releases, declarations, preliminary notices, and insurance requirements) of all accounts payable invoices
- Review seller docs (Escrow Statements)
- Supervise the processing of manual checks
- Responsible for all division cash disbursements, check stocks, and cash balances
- Responsible for meeting the timeliness in the monthly financial closing schedule
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages
- Prepare community and division level variance analysis, including cost/volume/ profit relationships
- Assist in the preparation of financing requests of prospective and active communities
- Assist in the preparation of sales price releases of active communities
- Assist in the preparation of annual business plans and periodic updates as well as long-term planning (forecasts)
- Review and supervise the timely recording and deposit of all divisional cash receipts
- Responsible for the review and/or preparation of month end closing entries, including maintenance of general ledger accounts and monthly cost of sales
- Assist in the coordination of annual and divisional audits including those related to profit participation reviews
- Responsible for the division’s adherence to corporate policies and procedures
- Supervise and train senior accountant, staff accountant and accounts payable associates
- Perform all other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ten (10) years minimum work experience with at least five (5) years inventory, retail, manufacturing or construction experience as a Controller
- Experience managing budgets of at least $50 million
- Minimum 5 years job cost experience required
- B.S. degree in accounting or equivalent
- Strong accounting background
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, Excel Spreadsheet and Microsoft Word
- JD Edwards experience a plus
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical and writing skills required
- Understand and follow work rules and procedures
