The Firehouse Restaurant, Sacramento’s premier fine-dining destination in the heart of Old Sacramento, is seeking a Line Cook I to join our culinary team.


For more than 60 years, The Firehouse has been known for exceptional cuisine, gracious hospitality, an award-winning wine program, and memorable dining experiences. Our culinary team combines classic technique with fresh, high-quality ingredients to create thoughtful, beautifully prepared dishes in a professional kitchen environment.


The Line Cook I is an important member of our back-of-house team and is responsible for supporting daily food preparation and service while maintaining The Firehouse’s standards for quality, consistency, cleanliness, and teamwork. This is an excellent opportunity for a developing culinary professional who wants to strengthen their skills and grow within a fine-dining kitchen.

Requirements:

What You'll Do

  • Prepare ingredients and menu items according to established recipes, specifications, and presentation standards.
  • Set up and maintain an organized, clean, and properly stocked workstation.
  • Execute assigned menu items accurately and efficiently during service.
  • Follow proper food handling, sanitation, storage, labeling, and rotation procedures.
  • Safely operate kitchen equipment, knives, ovens, grills, food processors, slicers, and other culinary tools.
  • Communicate effectively with chefs, cooks, and other team members throughout service.
  • Assist with prep work, stocking, cleaning, and other kitchen responsibilities as needed.
  • Maintain a sense of urgency while supporting a respectful and collaborative kitchen environment.
  • Follow all restaurant policies, food-safety requirements, and workplace safety procedures.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous professional cooking or kitchen experience preferred.
  • Fine-dining experience is a plus.
  • Culinary school education is preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of professional cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food-safety practices.
  • Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and established preparation standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
