Job DescriptionSalary: $145,000 annually
SFJAZZ is looking for a mission-driven individual to join our Finance team. The Finance Directorisa key member of the finance team,responsible forthe overallgeneral hygiene of the organizations financial systems and data.
Thepositions primary functions includesystems overview and improvements;monthly close activities; financial reporting;financialanalyses;forecasting and budgeting;maintainingfixed asset listings;and supporting the VP of Finance on special projects.
Responsibilities
- Supervise two employees, including training, coaching, professionaldevelopment,and performance reviews.
- OverseeAccounts Payable, AR, Collections, Payroll and General Ledger functions.
- Overseethe monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, account balances are reconciled (P&L and Balance Sheet accounts), and all monthly schedules are updated.
- With VP of Finance, consistently review department processes and procedures to find efficiencies and to improve accuracy.
- With VP of Finance, ensuretheaccurateandtimelypreparation of monthly,quarterly,and annual financial statementsin accordance withGAAP.
- With VP of Finance, plan and implement forecasting/budgeting processes.
- Manage annual audits to ensure successful audit results and compliance. Prepare leads and schedules to satisfy PBC requirements and correspond with the auditors foradditionalrequests.
- Establish and enforce accounting policies and procedures,including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
- Ensure the general hygiene ofthe chartof accounts, as well asaccuracy in the general ledger and financialstatements.
- Analyze the effect of statutory accounting practices and studies regulations and guidance to ensure correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Partner with the Development team in grant reportingand accurately reflecting Temporarily Restricted funds in both financial reports and Development reports.
- Oversee thefiling of tax returns andother compliance reporting.
- Serve asbackupfor payroll processing and recording.
- Special projects asassigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or business administration or equivalent experience.
- At leastnineyears of accountingexperiencewith at least fiveyears in a nonprofit setting.
- At leastfouryears experience in supervising employees.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Office, withdemonstratedadvancedproficiencyin Excel.
- At least five years experience with accounting,budgetingand bill payment software. Sage Intacct knowledge a plus.
- Superlativeanalytical skills, particularly in evaluating systems, processes, and procedures.
- Detail oriented and highly organized, with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple schedules and changing deadlines and priorities.
- Ability to exercise good judgment with a minimum of oversight.
- Exceptionalcommunication skills with an emphasis on tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated ability tomaintainconfidentiality.
- Strong interest in the arts/music and organizational mission.
Working Conditions
SFJAZZ has a hybrid work policy. This positionis required tobeonsiteminimum3days/week. SFJAZZ produces events andperformancesall times of the day/week. Evenings/weekends may berequired.
