Position Summary:

A privately held advanced manufacturing company in San Jose is seeking a Business Operations Manager to lead day-to-day administrative, accounting, and operational support for a precision manufacturing facility.

This is a highly hands-on role that blends accounting and back-office ownership with manufacturing operations coordination. The Business Operations Manager will serve as the primary onsite business resource, supporting bookkeeping, payroll, customer orders, ERP data, job costing, and operating metrics while partnering closely with site leadership and employees across the production floor.

This is not a corporate finance or FP&A position. The right candidate will be comfortable owning a broad range of responsibilities, working directly with shop-floor employees, customers, vendors, and leadership, and ensuring that critical business information is accurate, timely, and followed through to completion.

What You'll Do

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice entry, payment application, collections follow-up, and account issue resolution

• Prepare customer invoices and support day-to-day bookkeeping activities

• Respond to customer and vendor questions related to orders, invoices, payments, and account status

• Support payroll processing, employee time tracking, and payroll-related questions from employees

• Complete month-end journal entries and true-ups related to labor and material activity

• Reconcile financial activity and maintain accurate information across accounting and operating systems

• Enter customer purchase orders and manage orders through the ERP workflow from initial entry through completion

• Perform job costing, including allocation of material purchases and vendor invoices to individual manufacturing jobs

• Monitor shop-floor time entry and confirm employees are charging labor to the correct jobs

• Track how jobs and travelers move through the manufacturing process and ensure system records reflect actual production activity

• Partner closely with site leadership to monitor operating metrics and improve the consistency of daily processes

• Work cross-functionally with production, customers, vendors, finance resources, and other business partners

• Help maintain accurate data and operating discipline during ongoing system and process improvements

What You Bring

• Experience supporting the administrative and financial operations of a manufacturing business or production facility

• Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, payment application, reconciliations, payroll, and basic journal entries

• Hands-on payroll and timekeeping experience

• Understanding of manufacturing terminology and workflows, including jobs, travelers, labor tracking, materials, and shop-floor operations

• Ability to independently manage a broad workload and maintain accurate information across multiple accounting and operating systems

• Strong communication skills for working with employees, customers, vendors, site leadership, and corporate partners

• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills

• Demonstrated reliability, follow-through, sound judgment, and work ethic

• Ability to work full-time onsite and serve as the primary day-to-day business operations resource for the facility

• Experience within precision machining, metalworking, aerospace, defense, medical device, semiconductor, or another advanced manufacturing environment

• Accounting experience beyond transactional AP/AR, including journal entries, reconciliations, month-end activity, and labor or material true-ups

• Experience with manufacturing ERP or accounting systems

• Job costing, order processing, inventory, material-cost allocation, or manufacturing data-management experience

• Experience supporting or implementing improvements to business processes, systems, or operational workflows

• Program management, project coordination, or cross-functional initiative leadership experience

• Experience learning or supporting an ERP-system transition

• Familiarity with job-based or make-to-order manufacturing environments

Why This Opportunity

• Take ownership of a broad, visible business-operations role within an advanced precision manufacturing environment

• Work closely with site leadership as a trusted day-to-day operational and administrative partner

• Gain exposure across accounting, payroll, customer service, manufacturing operations, job costing, and ERP systems

• Build strong working relationships with both office employees and shop-floor teams

• Help improve operating discipline, information accuracy, and process consistency across the facility

• Participate in ongoing systems modernization and operational standardization

• Join an environment where the successful candidate can have a direct, visible impact on how the site operates each day
