Compensation: $80,000–$85,000 per year

Employment Type: Full-time, on-site

Schedule: Evenings, weekends, and holidays required


About the Opportunity

An established full-service restaurant and bar on the San Francisco Peninsula is hiring a Restaurant Floor Manager in San Mateo, CA. This Front of House leadership role oversees dining room and bar service in a high-volume restaurant environment. The Floor Manager will lead servers, hosts, bussers, and bartenders; protect guest experience; and keep service paced, polished, and profitable.


Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily front-of-house operations for a full-service restaurant and bar in San Mateo, including pre-shift briefings, station assignments, and floor presence during peak service.

• Coach servers, hosts, runners, bussers, and bartenders on steps of service, menu knowledge, wine and cocktail recommendations, and upselling.

• Manage reservations, waitlist flow, and table turns using industry reservation and POS systems.

• Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally; drive repeat visits and strong online reputation.

• Partner with the kitchen and bar to coordinate timing, specials, 86s, and large-party execution.

• Support FOH scheduling, recruiting, onboarding, and performance coaching in partnership with the General Manager.

• Uphold cleanliness, ambiance, cash-handling, and California health, safety, and Responsible Beverage Service standards.

• Monitor labor and beverage costs; report daily and weekly floor metrics to restaurant leadership.


Qualifications

• 2+ years of Floor Manager, Assistant Restaurant Manager, or comparable Front of House leadership in a high-volume, full-service restaurant with bar operations.

• Proven ability to run a busy dining room and bar while remaining calm, visible, and guest-focused.

• Strong communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.

• Working knowledge of POS and reservation platforms (for example Aloha, Toast, OpenTable, Resy, or similar).

• Must be 21 or older; California Food Handler and RBS certification, or ability to obtain promptly.

• Availability for nights, weekends, and holidays at an on-site San Mateo restaurant.
