This position is responsible for effectively managing and supporting Booth Ranches’ payroll processes and Human Resources operations. This position requires reliability, emotional intelligence, integrity, discretion, and a strong commitment to customer service, confidentiality, and excellence.
Requirements:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Payroll Support
· Process payroll for hourly and salaried employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with California wage and hour laws.
· Review and validate timecards, deductions, and adjustments.
· Maintain payroll records and employee files in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.
· Assist with garnishments, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions.
· Reconcile payroll reports and prepare summaries for the HR manager as needed.
· Coordinate with accounting to ensure accurate payroll journal entries and reporting.
Human Resources Support
· Assist with onboarding new of employees, including preparation of offer letters, new hire paperwork, and I-9 verification in either English or Spanish
· Assist with site safety audits, training, and incident investigations.
· Act as liaison between Booth Ranches’ HR department and staffing agency representatives.
· Maintain and update employee records in HRIS and personnel files.
· Support benefits administration, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
· Assist with employee relations, performance documentation, and compliance tracking (training, certifications, etc.).
· Assist with organizing employee engagement activities and HR communications – English and Spanish required.
· Ensure compliance with California employment laws for wage statements, meal/rest period documentation, leave management, etc.
Administrative Duties
· Answer all calls sent to the HR Department.
· Provide general administrative support to the HR department, including data entry, filing, and correspondence.
· Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, and HR policies.
· Support audits (payroll/FLC’s) and compliance reviews as needed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- 1-3 years of direct experience in payroll or HR support roles (California payroll experience strongly preferred)
- Bilingual – Fluent in Spanish (spoken and written).
- Experience with payroll systems such as Paylocity.
- B.A. Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred but not required.
- High School Diploma required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/MENTAL SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Must be able to maintain a valid CA driver’s license with the ability to be insured under company sponsored liability coverage.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Solid understanding of Full Cycle Payroll.
- Process Bi-weekly Payroll experience.
- Knowledge of California labor laws and wage & hour compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines consistently.
- Ability to handle matters of confidentiality with utmost tact and diplomacy.
