Support students who are visually impaired and make a meaningful impact in educational settings near Fontana, CA through this contract opportunity. Ideal candidates are dedicated educators who thrive in collaborative environments and are skilled at adapting curriculum and instruction to meet individual student needs.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with students who are visually impaired across diverse age groups and educational levels
  • Proficiency in Braille instruction and assistive technology for the visually impaired
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with students, families, and staff
  • Ability to assess students’ adaptive and educational needs and document progress accurately

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students with visual impairments
  • Evaluate students’ functional vision and learning media requirements
  • Develop and adapt individualized educational plans (IEPs) and instructional materials
  • Teach Braille, low vision strategies, and the use of assistive technology
  • Collaborate with general and special education staff to support inclusion and academic success
  • Participate in IEP meetings and provide recommendations based on students’ needs
  • Offer guidance and resources to families and staff to promote student independence
