Job Description

Caryville Elementary School is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Special Education Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities, collaborate with general education teachers and families, and create an inclusive learning environment that promotes academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized educational programs (IEPs) in accordance with federal and state regulations.
  • Provide specialized instruction that meets the unique learning needs of students with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support student success in inclusive classroom settings.
  • Monitor student progress, collect and analyze data, and adjust instruction as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including IEPs, progress reports, evaluations, and compliance records.
  • Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and multidisciplinary team members regarding student progress.
  • Participate in eligibility meetings, IEP meetings, and other required collaborative meetings.
  • Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies, interventions, and behavior supports.
  • Foster a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Valid Tennessee teaching license with an appropriate Special Education endorsement or eligibility for Tennessee licensure.
  • Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and implement research-based instructional practices.
  • Commitment to supporting the academic and personal growth of all students.
